What is a guided pack trip?

A guided pack trip is a chance to get out and explore the various wonderful areas of the Southwest. We will depart from Blanding, Utah and head to the designated drop off point where we will saddle up and start out for a few days of exploration in the canyons, ruins, mountains and deserts of the area. Aside from your horse and your bedroll all necessary items will be supplied. We will be camping old west style with the minimalist of amenities. (no restrooms or running water except what we pack a long). Once we have finished poking around the area we are in we will pack up and return to Blanding.

Do I need to be in good physical shape?

No you don't need to be in peak physical condition. You do need to be able to take care of your horse and handle him/her for several hours on different types of terrain and different angles of terrain.

Are your trips suitable for families?

Families are fun to watch together.

Will I be required to sign a waiver?

Yes.

Do you ever cancel trips?

Very rarely do we need to cancel a trip. Some trips may be canceled or not scheduled due to excessive rain.

How do I register for a trip?

Once you figure the day and time you want Call and make the appointment. Our phone number (435)459-1313 also under our Contact us link. A deposit of $75.00 / person is required at the time you call to make the reservations.

What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel your trip up to 24 hrs in advance without any penalties. You may cancel within 12 hrs of your trip with a 1/2 penalty of your deposit amount. Any cancellations you make within 12 hrs of trip will result in a loss of the full deposit. If we decide that the weather is too bad to go out and we cancel the trip you will receive a full refund. If it is lightly raining we may still go if we deem it to be safe. In such a case as we do make the trip and you decide not to go you will lose your deposit. When making decisions we are looking at safety of the area we are entering. Our decisions are based on whether or not it will be safe, not necessarily whether it will be comfortable or not. Hence below it is suggested for rain gear if threatening.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your horse (of course), a bedroll geared towards that time of year we will be travelling and your sense of adventure. To make the trips more enjoyable and memorable here are a few suggestions of items to consider bringing a long with you, although a heavy pack is also not desired.

Camera - Make sure that you have a way to protect the camera.

Comfortable hiking / wading shoes - Shoes with ankle support as well as good soles, no open toed shoes or sandals. Of course you will spend most of the time on your horse so what ever you find comfortable.

Hat for sun protection

Jacket and or rain gear - Weather forecast for possible rain we will still go out but need to be prepared.

How long are the trips?

Check the schedule for trip times. All trips are scheduled at 2 days plus.
